一橋大学に通う女子大生のプログ A uni blog written by a Hitotsubashi student!

入学式初日にナンパされた話 about someone hitting me up

Let's talk about what happened on my uni ceremony day, April 6th

It was my entrance ceremony day of Hitotsubhashi university; the beginning as a university student, a new school life.
We have an expression, an onomatopoeia, to express our excited feeling: ドキドキ、ハラハラ、ワクワク。It basically shows our mixed emotions on a first day (in a good way!!)

I went to uni with my mom and we took some greeeeeat pictures in the cold! It was nice to embody the fact that my dad was at the very same place when he was my age...!

My mom and I had lunch near the campus, and we just hopped on the train to go home.

This is the most shocking part of the day:

Otw back, there was a guy in his mid 20s, who suddenly came up to me with his ugly grin. He asked me if I'm a student from Hitotsubashi; how did he know? He then annoyingly asked me if I have a boyfriend, and he kept on forcing me to exchange our contact number because he said I was pretty, and he "fell in love" 🤷‍♀️.
My mom, who was sitting next to me was frozen due to surprise and shock. I mean?? The audacity the guy had to smooth talk to me right next to my mom. My dad was angry when we told him what happened later on.
Of course though, I did not exchange anything but it was scary. I tried not to say anything manipulative, or anything that would trigger the man. Fortunately though, I made eye contact with my mom, telling her that we will get off at the next station.

I tried to make time for myself to think of a plan to get out from this situation, so I asked him some open ended question about him.
Whilst he was saying whatever he had to offer, I gained time and decided to leave as we reached the platform. I was really scared that the guy would follow me after, so when the man asked me to shake his hand, I had to do it. It was the only way to leave him at the station. When I got out with my mom, I made sure that he was gone, and I sprayed my hands with alcohol. At least he left... my mom was disgusted but I guess that's life.

I told my friends and senpai about this, but apparently nobody had been smooth talked before by a stranger, despite living in Japan longer than I have.
This wasn't the first time I was being smooth talked by someone, but I realized that this was such a Japan thing. I know it's not just guys smooth talking to girls, but the other way can happen too.

A happy entrance ceremony day, ending in a bizarre way. I guess not everything is safe out there, but again, I'm excited and I want to have fun!! 🫶🏻 I made such nice friends who also take the same train so yay!
